There is a new form of entertainment for Middle Tennesseans and for the people of Kentucky. A brand-new horse racing and entertainment venue has come to the Middle Tennessee area. Oak Grove Racing & Gaming has opened right outside of Clarksville, Tennessee in Oak Grove, Kentucky right off of Interstate-24.
According to the Leaf Chronicle, “The facility is multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art facility that was constructed by Churchill Downs Inc. and partnered with Keeneland Association, the world’s largest thoroughbred auction company. The facility also has over 120 hotel rooms and according to their website, oakgrovegaming.com, over 1,200 exciting games, live horse racing, an equestrian, an outdoor amphitheater and more.
Their motto is “A whole lot of Vegas Fun minus the Flight.”
The state of Kentucky will benefit greatly from this new facility. It will benefit the states economy overall as Oak Grove’s revenues are expected to be high and there will be a creation of many news jobs for the state. The facility is expected to create nearly 400 direct full and part-time positions and an estimated 800 direct construction jobs.
This is big not only for the small city of Oak Grove and the state of Kentucky but in a way just as big for the Middle Tennessee area. As of now the nearest casino and racetrack, is in Franklin, Kentucky. Now, with the opening of Oak Grove Racing, that brings racing and casinos just an hour north of Nashville, and a few minutes outside of Clarksville. This brings gambling even closer to Middle Tennessee, and by doing so is yet another tourist attraction for an area that continues to grow.
