Cooper Announces Guest to Virtual Presidential Address to Joint Session of Congress

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Today Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) announced Juliana Ospina Cano, Executive Director of Conexión Américas, will be his virtual guest to President Biden’s first address to Congress.

“Juliana and the amazing team at Conexión Américas and Casa Azafrán provided life-saving resources to our growing and vibrant Hispanic community while we battled the COVID-19 pandemic,” Rep. Jim Cooper said. “While I wish we could all be at the address in-person, I’m honored Juliana accepted the invitation to view virtually and share all of the awesome work they are doing.”

“This year has brought us much hope. Thanks to increased and targeted efforts to distribute the vaccine as widely as possible, our community is beginning to see fewer cases of COVID-19 as vaccination rates rise. This, paired with the economic stimulus bill have led to a growing economy promising to benefit all of us,” Juliana Ospina Cano said. “The current administration’s cabinet and judicial nominations also give us hope. As an organization focused on advancing Tennessee’s Latino immigrant community, we know firsthand the positive impact of seeing someone who we can identify with in positions of leadership.”
