WASHINGTON — The Colin Tilley-directed video, “Ghost” starring singer Justin Bieber and Oscar-winning actor Diane Keaton dropped the official music video for the song.
The veteran actor stars with Bieber in the music video that showcases a mini family drama. The 3-minute video opens with Bieber in soft focus and then cuts to him hanging out with Keaton and his reel grandfather. The video then showcases a sequence of shots where Bieber is seen spending time with his grandparents until his reel grandfather passes away.
“And if you can’t be next to me/ Your memory is ecstasy/ I miss you more than life/ I miss you more than life,” he sings the lyrics.
The video shows several incidents of an ecstatic Bieber hugging his reel grandfather. In one shot, the old man wraps his arms around the singer and Keaton, planting kisses on their foreheads. It then shows Bieber trying to help Keaton cope with the grief of the passing away of her reel husband.
The video also has a wedding reception scene, where Keaton rocks one of her signature hats as she and Bieber raise a toast, dance in circles, and laugh with joy.
Before the official video got released, the “Book Club” actress, on Oct. 7, 2021, shared a preview video on her Instagram handle.
“Am I dreaming? What an honour it was to work with Justin Bieber and his incredible team!” she wrote.
“Ghost” is the most recent single from Bieber’s sixth studio album, “Justice.” The 27-year-old singer revealed that he had added three new tracks to the collection, which dropped on Oct. 9, 2021.
“The Justice: Complete Edition” will feature the previously much-anticipated unreleased songs “Red Eye,” “Angels Speak,” and “Hailey.”
Reportedly, “Hailey” (the song after Bieber’s wife’s name) and “Angels Speak” appeared on the Japanese edition of “Justice,” while “Red Eye” was included as a bonus track on his European Webstore alternate cover CD.
The album expansion has come six months after the singer released the “triple chucks deluxe” version of “Justice,” which featured six additional songs with appearances from Tori Kelly, Jaden, Quavo, DaBaby and Lil Uzi Vert.
The music video for “Ghost” was released on the same day as the “Baby” singer’s Amazon Studio’s documentary “Justin Bieber: Our World.”
Helmed by Michael D. Ratner, the 90-minute video showcases behind-the-scenes of Bieber’s New Year’s Eve 2020 concert.
The original album came out March 19, 2021, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.
